To have and to hold - we enjoy making books come to life.
Designing for Amgueddfa Cymru / National Museum Wales means wonderful opportunities to showcase some of the best of Wales' rich and varied culture.

Designing this book was a great experience, the highlight being meeting David Nash at Capel Rhiw in Blaenau Ffestiniog, where he has lived and worked for 50 years. It is a treasure trove of beautiful art works, reaching up to the ceiling or framing corners, bathed in beautiful light from the chapel windows. The book is available in English and Welsh, and accompanied the exhibition David Nash: Sculpture through the Seasons in National Museum Cardiff in 2019:
'David Nash is one of Britain’s most important artists, his work has featured in exhibitions across the world and he is represented in many major museum collections. This international reputation was formed in the particulars of place and environment – the studio at Capel Rhiw and the seasons and elements of the surrounding Snowdonia landscape.' (Amgueddfa Cymru)

It was a pleasure to design the accompanying catalogue book for the exhibition Martin Parr in Wales at National Museum Cardiff (October 2019 - May 2020).
'Martin Parr is one of the most influential and prolific photographers working today. He has always been drawn to Wales, having lived just over the border in nearby Bristol for thirty years... This exhibition brings together, for the first time, works that explore different aspects of Welsh life and culture, from male voice choirs and national sports to food, festivals and the seaside.' (Amgueddfa Cymru)
The book is hardback, with a blue canvas spine giving a tactile feel and splash of colour. It's available in English and Welsh (Martin Parr yng Nghymru) from the Amgueddfa Cymru online shop.
Other books we’ve designed for Amgueddfa Cymru include From Private to Public, Discovered in Time, Harnassed, Things of Beauty and The Tomb Builders, winner of the Book Award at the British Archaeological Awards 2006. The judges declared it:
'Beautifully produced and illustrated... a model of popular publication'
